The director of my department at work has taken a job at another non-profit. His last official day was a week ago Wednesday, and now he's wasting all of his vacation and sick days he's accrued over the years while occasionally stopping by to clean out his office and wrap up various loose ends.
My manager has been appointed the interim manager for the next six weeks and according to office gossip is strongly favored to take the position on a full-time basis.
If she gets promoted, office gossip would have it that I would then be promoted to her old job. Not just office gossip, despite my love for interdepartmental shenanigans and backstabbings between the cubicles. Broad hints, like emails stating "Thank you thank you thank you for doing X, Y, and Z during your last shift. It shows real initiative and your works do not go unnoticed." Which is awkwardly stated but nice, though I'd much rather that my wallet doesn't go unnoticed.
The best part is, I already do about as much work as I would if I get the job. I would just be allowed to sign off on things and have my email posted on the website. Plus a decent raise. I've been busting my balls in the last two weeks, getting as much work done as conspicuously as possible.
