Happy Birthday Hip-Hop!

Depending on who you believe and whether you think cultural movements can have a specific starting point, today is hip hop's 36th birthday! (I only know this thanks to PBS.)

And so in honor, I've made a mix cd filled with a broad spectrum of rap and hiphop, heavy on the idiosyncratic stylings and light on the bling, and certainly by no means complete or canonical. Available via sendspace.

Follow the link and follow the instructions, eventually unzipping the file. Leave a comment if in the future you'd prefer smaller mixes with the songs available a la carte, or if you prefer these full length, ready to burn onto cd mixes.
Here lies a most ridiculous raw youth, indulging himself in the literary graces that he once vowed to eschew. Now he just rocks out.
